Objectives (Expressed as expected learning outcomes)
The core of this discipline is to create in the student an open and scientific mind to be able to assume the continuous changes that happen in the society as well as in the working career of an architect, so that the student can know them, integrate them and even, be part of them.
This subject is focused in the construction of the building structures made of steel, timber or masonry. This implies that the student, once the technology and the constructive systems are introduced, is able to carry out unreservedly the processes of the constructive project and its material execution (specially of the structures), with the implications that this brings. The student will be able to:
- Design and define building structures as a basic part of the architectural project that satisfy the technnical and aesthetic aspects
- Know the research and preparation methods for a constructive project
- Solve the problems of structural conception and its execution, linked to the building project
- Know and use the adequate legislation and procedures when creating building projects

Additional information
The teaching organization of each group and in every course will be modified, if it is the case, justifying previously the current guide of the subject Construction 1.
Those students that cannot fullfill the requirements of the continuous assessment method due to laboral issues, health aspects, disability, mobility program or any inconvenience must adequately justify it demonstrating that they are not able to follow the continuous assessment. Once done it, they will have the right to be assessed by a FINAL SINGLE EVALUATION (Art. 2, Cap. IV, NCG112/3, BOUGR 112).
To opt for the final single evaluation, the student, within the first two weeks of teaching of the subject, or within the two weeks after enrollment if this has taken place after the start of the course, will request it through the electronic procedure to the Director of the Department, stating and proving the reasons for not being able to follow the continuous evaluation system. (...) Notwithstanding the above, for exceptional and justified reasons (work reasons, health condition, disability, mobility programs, representation or any other analogous circumstance), the final single evaluation may be requested outside the aforementioned deadlines, under the same administrative procedure (Art. 8, Cap. IV, NCG112/3, BOUGR 112).
Everything regarding assessment that it is not in this guide follows the indications of NCG112/3, BOUGR 112:cases of evaluation by incidence, extraordinary evaluation by Court, evaluation of students with disabilities, and others.
PRADO USAGE:
The subject will use the PRADO platform of the University of Granada as a tool to support classroom teaching. Through it, teaching materials, activities, learning resources, notices and communications of interest will be made available to the students, as well as, where appropriate, delivery tasks and continuous assessment tools. It is recommended that students regularly consult the platform, as it constitutes the main means of teaching communication, along with the institutional email of the University of Granada. On this platform you can also consult the tutoring schedule of the teacher who teaches the subject.
INCLUSION:
Following the recommendations of the CRUE and the Secretariat for Inclusion and Diversity of the UGR, the systems of acquisition and evaluation of competencies included in this teaching guide will be applied according to the design principle for all people, facilitating the learning and demonstration of knowledge according to the needs and functional diversity of the student body.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
In case of using artificial intelligence tools for academic activities, students must do so ethically, critically and responsibly, following the institutional recommendations of the University of Granada. Its use should be in accordance with the guidelines established by the teachers for each activity or evaluation system. The students must expressly declare its use when required and will be responsible for the authorship, originality and veracity of the submitted works. The papers may be analyzed by the faculty using institutional tools for similarity review and AI use detection, in order to ensure compliance with academic integrity principles.
